It is with the deepest regret that the Trustees of the Alan Bush Music Trust announce the death of Professor Paul O'Higgins, Trustee and Hon. Treasurer of the Alan Bush Music Trust. Paul was admitted to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge on 10 March 2008 and died there peacefully, surrounded by his family, on 13 March 2008.
Paul worked tirelessly from the date of inception of the Trust in raising funds to finance the work of the Trust. His most recent project involved raising funds to purchase the portrait bust of Alan Bush by the sculptor, Ian Walters, which will be displayed at the Royal Academy of Music in London later this year.
Paul's funeral will take place at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday 25 March 2008 at Cambridge City Crematorium, Huntington Road, Girton, Cambs. All friends and supporters of the Trust are welcome to attend. A memorial service will also take place at Christ's College, Cambridge on a later date to be announced.
Paul's youngest daughter, Niav O'Higgins, who is already a Trustee, will take over as Hon. Treasurer of the ABMT.
